Internal Academic Programmes

We offer multiple levels under our standardized flagship offering - based on the different requirements and experience levels of students - as well as customised programmes for L&T’s Technology Services and Construction business. We also offer Short Term Programmes.

Flagship Programmes

Level 0 - Principle of Project Management (L-0)

The programme is meant for graduate engineer trainees and others having very limited exposure to projects and who would like to reinforce the foundations before getting involved with major projects. Typically the participants are expected to be of experience between 1 & 3 years. The programme is generally spread over a period of 8 days and covers basic networking techniques, some fundamentals of finance and introduction to project management concepts .In specific instances, based on needs of the participating organizations, the programme duration could be either reduced or increased.

Eligibility Criteria: Project professionals with experience between 1 and 3 years

Duration: 9 days

Level 1- Advanced Certificate in Project Management (L-1)

This programme is spread over 2 years with contact sessions of 6 days on quarterly basis, i.e. once in three months leading to 48 days of classroom sessions in a span of 2 years. This programme is meant for participants who have completed L-0 programme and also for project engineers with 4 to 10 years of experience.

Eligibility Criteria: Project professionals with experience between 4 and 10 years

Duration: 48 days in a span of 2 years @ 6 days contact every quarter

Level 2- Senior Management Programme on Project (L-2)

This programme is spread over for a period 1 year with contact sessions of 6 days duration every quarter leading to 24 days of contact in 1 year. Ideally participants of this programme should have completed L-0 and L-1 programme. The focus of this programme is to bring in the strategic perspectives of project management with inputs ranging from fundamentals of project design, risk and strategic project management.

The programme is meant for project professionals with 11-20 years of experience.

This programme is offered in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM A). The academic agreement mandates 50% of the course contents to be delivered by IIM Ahmedabad and the remaining 50% to be delivered by L&T I’PM.

Eligibility Criteria: Project professionals with experience between 11 and 20 years

Duration: 24 days in a span 1 year @ 6 days contact every quarter

Level 3 - Strategic Project and Programme Management (L-3)

This programme is conceived in two parts: (a) 10 days of classroom contacts in a span of 6 months in two sessions of 5 days each and (b) online contact sessions of 60 days in between the sessions leading to total 70 days of contact sessions.

The programme has been conceived and developed with George Washington University (GWU), Washington DC, USA. Ideally participants of this programme should have completed L-2 programme. The programme is meant for project professionals with 20+ years of experience and who can typically work on multiple projects to enable them to handle projects and programmes

Eligibility Criteria: Project professionals with 20+ years of experience

Duration: 6 Months with 2 Modules of Contact sessions (6 days each) and 1 Module through webinar. Total of 12 contact sessions and 6 to 8 webinar sessions

QS: Quantitative Surveying

The role of the quantity surveyor has changed drastically during the recent times and he is expected to provide project management and financial management services in addition to the traditional ability of taking off quantities from drawings and thorough knowledge of construction practices.

This course has been designed to provide the participant the various roles of a quantity surveyor and the core knowledge of various quantity surveying techniques and issues related to it. The programme has been conceived and developed with RICS - Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, UK

Eligibility Criteria: Graduate Engineers (BE/B.Tech) working in the areas of quantity surveying with minimum 4 years.

Duration: The Quantity Surveying Programme has been designed to be delivered in four modules of six-days each once in every quarter

Customised Programmes - L&T Technology Services

L&T Technology Services (L&T TS) Project Managers work with culturally diversified global customers’ demands, who are constantly looking for shorter implementation cycles and faster ‘go to market’ with new products, bringing innovative ideas in New Product Development (NPD) projects. At L&T Technology Services (L&T TS), with a project/portfolio mix, the scope is not always recognisable and the short execution time-frames available make the project environment very unique. Moreover, the project life-cycle requirements have to be managed within internationally recognised frameworks along with established processes & derived metrics, to be applied with consistency, repeatability and acceptability.

L&T TS Project Management programmes are suitably directed at Project Managers and fill their need with regards to enhanced Project Management orientation. The programmes cater to a Products/Plants orientation through detailed intersections of the project life-cycle and the product and service life-cycle(s). The programmes also reinforce the basics of project management and deal with application of PM concepts in real life scenarios.

The following three programmes are available for L&T Technology Services:

ACPM: Advanced Certification in Project Management

Eligibility Criteria: Project professionals with 15 to 20 years of experience, and minimum of 2 years’ experience in Larsen & Toubro. Requirement of Annual Performance Rating is 5 or above.

Duration: 16 days in 2 modules with 8 days/module

BCPM: Basic Certification in Project Management

Eligibility Criteria: This programme is meant for L&T Technology Service (L&T TS) Project Managers with experience up to 10 years, and minimum of 2 years’ experience in Larsen & Toubro. Requirement of Annual Performance Rating is 5 or above.

Duration: 9 days

CCPM : Common Certification in Project Management

Eligibility Criteria: This programme is meant for L&T Technology Service (L&T TS) Project Leaders with experience up to 6 years, and minimum of 2 years’ experience in Larsen & Toubro. Requirement of Annual Performance Rating of 5 or above.

Duration: 8 days

Customised Programmes - L&T Construction

PMEE – Project Management Programme in Execution Excellence

The programme offers the latest in project delivery, planning and monitoring approaches and methodologies, negotiation strategies, and technologies for construction project management; with specific examples. It focuses on how to integrate project objectives, owner capabilities, project risks, and technology, with a systematic approach to project delivery. The programme focuses on measuring the competence of the construction managers in project execution thereby achieving project execution excellences.

Eligibility Criteria: Experienced Execution project personnel. Prospective Participants are expected to be part of a current project team. General understanding of a project organisation is expected of the prospective participants.

Duration: 4 days of contact session in module 1&2 and 5 days of contact session in module 3&4 with sessions on an alternate month basis, leading to total 18 days of contact sessions. Course will be completed in 7 months.

L-1 Infra – Advanced Certification in Project Management Infra Level 1- Certificate Programme in Project Management (L-1, CCPM) programme has been designed by I’PM based on the experience gained by training closed to 5000+ project professionals from various disciplines and domains of Larsen & Toubro. The current course being offered is designed based on the knowledge repository created by L&T I’PM to develop and deliver programmes that relevant in today’s project environment. The contact sessions will include input sessions, proficiency assessment, in-class tests, group presentations and invited presentations. The course pedagogy includes use of cases as learning tools, games, simulations, project planning tools, decision making tools etc.

Eligibility Criteria: Engineering Graduates with a minimum of 4 years’ experience

Duration: 4 Modules spread over 1 year with 6 days contact per session, once in 3 months contact, leading to a total of 24 days contact sessions.

Short Term Programmes (STP)

These programmes offer ‘in-depth’ knowledge of areas of project management and are offered as short term courses of 2 to 4 days. These Programmes are open to all project professionals and the courses are announced at periodic intervals based on the academic calendar and as per specific requests from business units. STPs are conceived and delivered by respective domain specialists and invariably taught with case studies and practical examples.
